Murals!
This document is inspired by conversations with Tom Knipe about Ithaca Murals curating murals in Collegetown over the next few months.
My initial thought was to collaborate with Travis Hyde Properties for a mural on one of their medium sized walls adjacent to the City of Ithaca garage on Dryden Rd. (see bottom of this document). But after making this document, my preference would be for Ithaca Murals to be funded to
My honest goal is to impress you by curating these smaller spaces during September-December 2024.... and then for us to dream big for larger murals (and larger funding) for Collegetown in 2025.
My initial thought was to collaborate with Travis Hyde Properties for a mural on one of their medium sized walls adjacent to the City of Ithaca garage on Dryden Rd. (see bottom of this document). But after making this document, my preference would be for Ithaca Murals to be funded to
- work with artists over the next few months to clean up graffiti on current murals in Collegetown (see section 2), and
- curate murals on 5-10 of the electrical boxes and smaller surfaces below (see section 3).
My honest goal is to impress you by curating these smaller spaces during September-December 2024.... and then for us to dream big for larger murals (and larger funding) for Collegetown in 2025.
A notes about section 1 - particularly for if any local Ithaca street artists were to come upon this document...
I have images of Collegetown murals that date back to 2011. I also have photos local street art from when I was in high school. At some point it would be nice to have a webpage showcasing murals from that distant past. Let me know if you'd like to collaborate on such an endeavor. But for this page, I'm beginning with 2015.
