About KHALIL BEY
Khalil “Nation" Bey is a local Ithaca beloved elder, artist, actor, story teller, and social activist.  You can find Khalil most weekdays at 516 MLK Jr. St. where he is the CNY Assistant Coordinator for Alliance of Families for Justice.
We are excited for this mural to reflect the values of Camp Earth Connection - empowerment through diversity and connecting with the land.  Since its beginning, Camp Earth Connection (CEC) has been a strong advocate for inclusive nature and justice programming.  CEC has always hired BIPOC staff as part of this mission - recognizing that a diverse workforce makes a dynamic and powerful team.  Over the years, hundreds of youth and their families have come to CEC, to participate in inclusive programming in the Hammond Hill Forest, where in the past this may not have felt like a safe activity for people of color.  Hammond Hill is a State Forest which means it is for all of us to enjoy.  The Earth is home for all of us.  Everyone deserves the healing qualities of nature.
