Painted with her mom Laurel Callahan!
“The cells in our bodies are always moving, transporting oxygen and nutrients to where they are needed most. This piece expands that same concept to a macroscopic scale - playing with the idea that, maybe, all travelers are guided by some necessity beyond their immediate understanding.”

"Through Diversity we Flourish" painted Nov 2020
We are so excited to bring some native insects to the South Hill rec trail! Insects populations around the world are declining due to human forces, and if we do not take action at a large scale, many of the insects in this mural may not be around much longer. The messages on the South Hill rec trail fence are those of racial justice and unity. We have added our message of environmental justice as well, because one cannot be achieved without the other. Environmentalism will achieve nothing without intersectionality.

GOOD things are going to HAPPEN
TRUTH ACCESS JUSTICE and FREEDOM will ALWAYS PREVAIL I'm a designer & muralist who's obsessed with letters, colors, thrifting, and slapping paint on walls to make them look pretty.

"It is great to have the opportunity to participate again with some new art in the streets of Ithaca. My time there was a very creative period for me and a rebirth of sorts that started in 2000 with the mural on the construction barrier for the then-new Tompkins County library. It's especially gratifying to be able to contribute during this moment of fighting for social justice. The image of the black power fist "Paz" dispenser evokes a lot for me. If we want peace, if we want justice -- then we do need to fight for it. However, not with violence, but in our willingness to resist the abuse of power. And this is no fantasy or mere childish dream. This is in fact the will of the people. We get the world we are willing to fight for." Instagram: @chngrus_63

"So happy to be part of a wall that invites people in, rather than keeping them out. My doodle-based images celebrate inclusion and justice; resistance and resilience; play and self-healing; collective consciousness and positive futures. I aim to encourage and to explore together: Another way of being is possible! Another world is possible! We can do this!" Website: ourcollectiveliberation.org

Glyphe
“Anonymous Birds"
By using the anonymous graffiti already written, the birds are the personification of people. People who have something to say. People who are part of the society who don't listen to them. The painting is modestly trying to amplify people silenced. |

Shane Scarofile
Born and raised on south hill, Shane attended South Hill Tots and South Hill Elementary and painted this mural as a thank you to the neighborhood that raised him.
Of all the artists with artwork currently on the fence, Shane was the first. When we started in 2012, it took a couple years to the permission for him to paint. Now the fence looks so good, the neighborhood is more trusting, and permission often takes less than a couple weeks.
