THRIVING FUTURES
In celebration of 12 years of organizing in Ithaca NY,
“Get Your GreenBack Tompkins" funded 17 murals in the Ithaca area in 2023!
Theme: “Building a future where all people & living environments thrive."
1 Mural for Cornell Cooperative Extension
16 electrical boxes throughout Ithaca
Mural at BJM of Kirby Edmonds, Audrey Cooper, & Beverly Martin
This initiative wasn't just about murals.  Finalists and organizing team met together 3 times during April-June 2023.  GYGB's goal was to inspire and fund a cohort of artists thinking together on the themes below.
Cornell Cooperative Extension
Back wall of 615 Willow Ave.
Wall Facing W. Lincoln St. & Route 13

20 artists sent in proposals for this wall and a jury of 25 CCE staff selected Margaret Kops Kuveke's design.
Get Your GreenBack Tompkins funded Margaret $6,000 to paint the wall.
Electrical Boxes
Themes? “Get Your GreenBack Tompkins" funded artists to paint 16 electrical boxes incorporating these themes...
1 - Building a future where all people and living environments thrive,
2 - Intersection of equity and environmental justice,
3 - Land and food justice,
4 - What does a just and sustainable future look like?

35 artists sent in proposals for electrical boxes and a jury of community members selected winning designs to be painted on 16 electrical boxes!
Electrical box artists were funded $450 for each box

Thanks to these Amazing Artists for Painting Electrical Boxes!

Orgs facilitating this initiative with Ithaca Murals...
After 12 years of organizing, “Get Your GreenBack Tompkins" is ending.  We were excited for this collaboration with Ithaca Murals to be a parting gift - part of our finale.  The organizing is shifting... and the work continues!
