One of the easiest ways to paint a mural is to find a wall you love, figure out who owns it, and ask.
Put together a simple portfolio showing a few examples of your artwork. If possible, include a sketch or painted proposal overlaid on a photo of the blank wall—this helps people visualize what you’re imagining.
If this is your first mural, consider collaborating with friends or pulling together a small support team to help with planning, painting, and logistics.
Post on social media that you’re looking for a wall to paint!
Murals on homes are an up-and-coming trend.
There are about 15 murals on homes so far, and more catching on fast.

MURALS ON CROSSWALKS & INTERSECTIONS
City Hall doesn't make it easy, but with teamwork and planning ahead, anything is possible.
City Hall Application for Intersections
In Portland, neighbors don't always wait for permission. “Intersection Repair" repair murals are organized street paintings that grow out of conversation, care, and collective action.
⚡ ELECTRICAL BOXES ⚡
City Boxes, State Boxes, NYSEG Boxes, Verizon Boxes, Spectrum Boxes, etc.
Artists have painted 100+ boxes in Ithaca - half with permission and half spontaneous on weekends.
