Living Waters
Mural by Lynn Golan

Footage by Shira Evergreen of Uplifted Ithaca.

May this prayer ripple out into the community, into the world, and inspire thoughtful questioning, meditation, conversation, & action.

Gratitude

This 30 ft. tall mural is a question, a conversation, a meditation, a prayer about our Global Waters - and our relationship to the Waters. Our Global Waters are one body, a massive system. From ocean, to creek, river, marsh, rain cloud, to the fluid running in our veins, We are deeply interconnected to and through Water.

This mural lifts up and honors Leah Penniman of Soul Fire Farm, and Author of Farming While Black and Dr. Sylvia A. Earle, founder of Mission Blue. These women embody the spirit of the Waters - expansive, wise, interconnective, powerful. The mural honors our local and global kin, the cattails, american frog, sea turtles, coral reef, mycelium and mushrooms, the jellyfish, and local waterways Six Mile Creek and Taughannock Falls.

Our global waters are in crisis. Our marine kin are suffering, their communities being driven into extinction. We are destroying ourselves, our bodies (of water) are polluted. Look at what we are doing to the Waters, our essential life-force.

Expansive Expression

This mural helped me realize that I am capable of anything I put my energy towards. Major thanks for all the healing hearts and hands who came out. There are so many ways to support one another. I feel held. Love is a community effort. Creation is communal.

Thanks to Painting Assistants:
