Melody with her family: Ulises and Corazon
Melody Often has painted murals promoting the environment for the Maryland Science Center and the Baltimore Office of the Promotion of the Arts. She lives in Schenectady, NY where she illustrates and colors for such companies as IDW, Image, Dark Horse, and Entertainment Weekly. She frequently collaborates with her partner, illustrator, Ulises Farinas. Her first graphic novel got a Xeric Grant, written by her mother, Janet Tangirala, about the Bosnian conflict in the 1990s. She has organized 2 comic book anthologies and contributed to and or illustrated for Amazing Forest, 1001 Knights, and Corpus. She has a baby boy named Corazon.
